Heya, everyone. It's time for an update.

In case you didn't know, a few days ago, I actually made a deviation expressing my thoughts on Pokemon GO and what I had to or could say about it giving the current situation as I explained in the deviation. Since then, I was actually able to get past the very strict maintenance time to actually jump in and play the game, pick my starter (I picked Squirtle for my adventure, something I would never do in any Kanto game attempt), and get the hang of catching Pokemon.

I now have some hours logged in as well as getting very close to level 6, and have caught a few Pokemon along the way. I even  joined Team Instinct in case I actually want to do gym battles in the future. It sounds like I actually love Pokemon GO, right? Ehhhh...........

The short answer is somewhat. I love playing Pokemon GO when I actually get the chance to catch Pokemon or want to go somewhere to catch Pokemon or look at what Pokestops there are. Unfortunately, this can come at a very big price, and the bugs are actually fucking brutal if Pokestops and Pokemon catching can become more viable at other places.

Which brings me to my next topic, being the bugs. There are a lot of issues with the game as a whole. I've already talked about the maintenance problems, but there are a lot more than that that I've found.

The bugs I've managed to find is that the game is prone to freezing, sometimes at the most inopportune times, including catching Pokemon or trying to locate Pokestops.
The GPS system is also pretty lousy as it can go out of signal pretty quickly and if running on data, it can become frustrating trying to get it to work properly. I've had to close the game several times because it froze or the GPS system screwed up, and it sucks.

Another problem is the Pokestop locations itself. I live in a small town, so there only one place in the city that has more than one Pokestop to collect from and coincidentally it's also the only place in the city that actually has gyms, but even than, trying to figure out the exact location stop is tedious. You could be at the place where it shows the picture and still be too far away from the Pokestop. It's like why even bother? Oh, and there's also the lore bullshit I keep hearing about. Apparently, if a stop has no lore, you won't get jack shit. If that's true, again, WHY EVEN BOTHER? It would be like walking to Detroit for a car and getting stabbed just inside the city limits, except not that extreme, but still.

One last bug is the battery drainage. Because of the GPS and 3D function, the app is one big god damn sap sipper (Pardon the pun.) The battery can drain very fast and it's not a good idea to continue the adventure with low battery in case it dies halfway through. Battery saver only helps so much as there is still a good amount drainage per minute even with it on. The phone also gets really hot and I fear overuse of the app will shorten my battery's lifespan. It's a really big reason why I don't play it more often than I should.

One more thing I have to say, is that the concept did and has come with some backfires, even though I did say I like the concept before. The app is a actual legit reason for phone addiction, considering its popularity, so the risks of people not paying attention is about as widespread as drugs, even if it did seem like common sense. Being careful with the app is more key knowledge than any other app, as the game can become death insurance if a really bad move is played.

Overall, I have a good chunk of disappointment with the app with what I could play. I like the concept and I like that it's an inspiration for traveling, but even if I wanted to play more and become better at it, the bugs, GPS and battery loss made sure I couldn't. Fingers crossed that this get fixed in the future as more people start to play it.

So those are my updated thoughts on Pokemon GO. I may make an update if this get fixed, and I seriously hope this happens. This is Ketchup, signing out.
An update on my thoughts as I got the chance to play it.
